Dawn, DON'T put your ribs in foil on the grill...you want the smoke to penetrate them. You really need a BBQ with a lid, them when you put on your wood chips and shut the lid the temperature will drop and not burn the outside of the ribs. It will slow cook them in warm/hot smoke and you will get BIG flavour! The boiling technique isn't great for ribs...low and slow cooking will work best :)

Michael,
I will admit that I don't make ribs often because I haven't had much luck! My mother insist that you need to boil them first and then put them on the grill with wet BBQ sauce mostly to heat and singe the outside. Clearly, this is a wet method which might not be the best advice and the root of my failure! So if I could clarify, they go on the grill for 40min inside the foil you wrapped them in to marinate with the dry rub... Is that correct? Cause l have some I would like to try with your dry spices this week!

Try this rub with chicken if you would prefer it to the ribs. It will add flavour to any meat :)

Donna, I have tried "mock" meat as a lot of Chinese restaurants use it in the UK. Thank you for the kind comment :)

Hi Michael,

Even though I am a vegetarian, this made me hungry. Well, I now know a way to get my "tofu ribs" going. Yes, they do make mock ribs out of tofu or vegetable protein. lol!

Actually, this does look very tasty and I do have to pass this along to my meat eating friends.

Thanks!
