Ta dah…I reached the final day and in fact the final juice has been drunk. I felt a bit sad and my fridge looked a bit bare! Today has been a mixed bag as I have felt really woozie a few times, and brilliant too.

This morning I helped my mum cook, frying indian treats for a brunch on Sunday and normally I would have been nibbling, tasting and critiquing. Well critiquing helpfully! Today I just cooked and didn’t nibble. I didn’t want to, the end was so close.

I have also signed up for a raw week, basically I wanted some inspirational recipes and I want back in the kitchen. I learned that although juicing will be a welcome friend in my life. In fact my local Waitrose had a new line of unpasteurised juices, which I have added to my fridge for the weekend and next week! I have also learned how much I love being in the kitchen. How much I love experimenting and creating and trying new stuff. Hence why I am playing with raw food, the adventure, not the woo woo obsession that so many have. I also suspect it is going to be kinder to my system to gently ease back to food rather than going back to what it was so soon.

Variety is the spice of life, however without health you haven’t got much life. A bit heavy for a late Friday night post, but it is true and every now and then you have to take stock with your diet and eating habits and banish the bad ones. Well you don’t have to do anything but you know what I mean.

I would recommend juicing, even if it isn’t as regimental as me, but if not don’t mix it up with cooked food, stick to raw. Obviously I am not giving medical advice and you have to figure out your own health situation and talk to your relevant professionals, but making healthy choices whatever they are, are a good thing when it comes to food as it feels like a re-calibration.

Getting the juices delivered was a decadent treat and I highly recommend it, definitely locate someone near you and if you are in the UK you can use who I did: Soul Mate Food and today I found these people who are next on my list to try. Just not next week as I thought.

Now I am looking forward to giving up the can’t be bothered to cook so food delivered pattern and get back to being a proudly conscious creator in the kitchen…and you never know I might share some of my triumphs over the next week but then again I might not.

Thanks for following this journey, it gave me a level of accountability that I probably needed. Do let me know what you have thought and anything about your experience of juicing or where you would recommend buying juice cleanses near you!

Sarupa Shah

Author information

Sarupa Shah

Sarupa Shah is The Celebrities Soul Agent and owner and founder of The Soul Agency.

OK I am on day three of my juice fast. After a mammoth day working yesterday, and being told that day three is the breeze, I awoke with some anticipation. Although I knew all these well advisers and wishers were gonna be wrong…as the first two days had been good already.

I didn’t wake up hungry. I don’t normally but having not had solid food now for two days it is a surprise. In fact during this juice fast I don’t get hungry at all except at about the time I have all my life which is around 5ish (normally I am hungry a lot) , it might be be psychological, as it is like end of day time so must be dinner time!!! Oh what a slave to food routines one can be!

I felt great this morning, and I have to say getting the first juice into me, the carrot, apple and ginger was really needed. A warming sweet nectar, anything else would have just been too harsh, so the sweetness of the carrots is a good rouse for my body to not crave food. Good to know.

As for the picture of juice three there, oh my oh my. I am a cinnamon lover and chilli too so although there is no real heat or burning or anything from this, it is simply warming, it is right up there as my favourite juice. It is closely followed by juice one, but this one is nectar from the Gods.

I have been wondering if the juices are organic…I hope so as that would be a shame I am detoxing with pesticides. I guess finding that out earlier would have been wise.

Being productive in the morning was not an issue although today I did choose to work from bed but I am prone to doing that anyway, that is why I work for myself as I can have the freedom to do it how I like!

Popping out for a walk in to my local town wasn’t that bad, although I did choose not to sit there while my other half had a BK lunch, I went to the health food shop instead. I wasn’t the only one, seems everyone is into health, where have I been…?

I decided to get some goodies for when I break the juice fast, but as this was a High Street health food shop the availability of the nutrition I was looking for was limited so I settled for some organic soya yoghurts.

I also got myself some probiotics and spirulina. Spirulina I am now mixing into my juices (only two a day) and the probiotics are for when I break the juice fast just to ensure good bacteria in the gut etc. Might be something worth adding to the juice cleanse, Soul Mate Food.

What has been tough today has been watching and smelling Michael cook. Even though I wouldn’t be eating what he cooked as I am a veggie, the smells have been hard but what has been fascinating is they haven’t got my tummy rumbling, just my mind. I say hard, that is probably a little too strong, it was just noticeable that I was avoiding the kitchen. But that might be because I can’t help interfere as I do love to cook!

Michael thinks my skin has got smoother on my face, I never knew it wasn’t smooth, but you live and learn. I created a video on youtube for my other main business today and thought I looked rough, but we are our most harsh judges in truth so I will ignore that analysis. That said I am not feeling the promised bounce of day three and as I draw my day to an end and say goodbye to the laptop and start juice five, I feel slightly emosh…sad. I don’t think that is down to a lack of solid food or is it because it has actually been so easy to give up solid food, something that I thought I loved. Maybe it is just grief for a pizza, a piece of toast…I have never been one for goodbyes!

Who knows?

All in all, I am surprised at how easy it is but if I was having to juice five times a day I think I would have lasted a day, too much time and too much washing up. Having the juices delivered to you is just the easy, effortless way to do this and I am considering doing this again next week too. This is beginning to feel like my Everest.

Sarupa Shah

Author information

Sarupa Shah

Sarupa Shah is The Celebrities Soul Agent and owner and founder of The Soul Agency.

For a few years now I have wanted to do a juice cleanse. It was never the right time. The reason I wanted to do it wasn’t just the promise of losing weight, but more that I wanted to get healthy and clear my body for my mind to also clear and my emotions to detox.

Now I know there are people out there who think it is all a bit woo woo and full of nonsense to change your diet to a fast of this kind. All I can say to you for centuries and more different cultures have had moments of fasting. As much evidence as you will say makes it bad there is equal amount that says it is good for you too. So it is down to individual choice and not about the science you follow.

I am too food indulgent to be 100% raw, or 100% juice diet and I don’t go for deprivation. Again, personal choice!

I also don’t believe there is anything spiritually evolved in eating raw or juicing all the time. Although I do think there is something evolved in eating good, ethical and healthy food whatever your preferences and choices are!

Yet you can’t disagree that when you have eaten so much that you have to undo the top button of your trousers or undo your belt a notch or two, you feel like sitting, lolling and sleeping. Too full and you can feel lethargic and unmotivated. Not always but pretty much so.

There is something about eating less that lets other senses heighten and gives your body a rest from the bulk it is normally filled with.

My diet has become a bit too carby and cheesy so a break was needed.

I went to Soul Mate Food on the recommendation of someone on Facebook who would know about these things. Gotta love the power of social media. You can find out all the health qualities in the juices and satiate your is this right hunger.

It happened to be a day when I was home alone a rarity when we both work from home and I just ordered without even thinking about it enough to talk myself out of it or try and plan it at a more convenient time.

Never mentioned anything and then before the delivery which was midnight to 9am, yes a bit odd timing I happened to mention it in passing to him in doors.

I know some would say prepare your body for this, but my body has been hungry for a detox for a long time. My only preparation was self-enforced as I was recovering from a cold so I had eaten less the week preceding and had given my early morning coffee a miss.

As serendipity had it my delivery arrived on a Monday and the weekend before had been a BIG one as I had a 50th celebration, not mine someone else’s.

Hey that is me the all or nothing kind of girl.

I started immediately…and am about to tuck into the final juice of the day and I have to say so far so good.

It was weird around 5.30pm as I felt a bit lost not thinking about dinner and spending time cooking. I suddenly had a whole lot more time. Fabulous!

What did I do, had a long soak in the bath and wrote this.

Do I feel hungry yes. More the ritual of not stuffing my face till my tummy feels tight and satiated. Do I feel determined to succeed yes.

Will I eat anything this week? Maybe but only time will tell. Like I said I don’t do depravation, I am not into self-torture either. I just want to experience a shift in my body, how I feel from the inside out and to be honest I have been a bit bored of eating recently anyway. Usually a sign my body wanted a break.

Well I hope to be back tomorrow with another update and by then I will be able to tell you which is my favourite juice as they are the same 5 every day and I have just about finished round one!

Juice one as you can see in the image is carrot, apple and ginger. It is a bit of a staple when it comes to juicing and good favourite of mine and whatever the folks at Soul Mate Food do the juice was so light. It was scrummy! Their advice is to sip the juices and I get why as it kept me busy and stopped me falling off the wagon so early and kept my body nourished regularly, in fact they say a juice every 2.5 hours and it took me about that long per juice. Magic!

So far so good and I haven’t lost my cool once so that has to be a good thing, wouldn’t you agree?

Do you have any experience of juice cleanses? What was your experience? What made you start it…I am interested, do share in comments below!

Sarupa Shah

Author information

Sarupa Shah

Sarupa Shah is The Celebrities Soul Agent and owner and founder of The Soul Agency.
