For example I don’t really like the “bitter” taste of Grapefruit, but simply sprinkle some sugar on and I suddenly love it.

I’m talking here about a flavour which you simply cannot bear to eat, a taste that makes you wince just thinking about it. You know a bit like Marmite, some people may love it but others really, really hate it.

I hate capers! Most people I know have no issue with these little green fellows, and I kind of wish I did like them as I hate to miss out on a great meal. It also makes me feel a bit dumb like a little kid complaining about having to eat peas (small greens things too funny that!)

I have tried capers thousands of times, hoping that I will “acquire” a taste for them. Unfortunately my taste buds simply will not let me get over my instant grimacing reaction.

The distinct flavour capers have taste to me like the chef has infused my meal with moth balls or some similar horrible “chemical” tang.

There is one thing which I can get away with eating which contains capers and that is tartare sauce. The flavour is just about hidden enough in the sauce so as not to be overpowering. In fact I do like a touch of tartare sauce with my fish and chips…weird isn’t it?

Talking of fish anchovies are one thing I have heard many, many people say they can’t stand, but I love them and can eat those little salty devils straight from the tin all day long.

Funny how ones personal taste works isn’t it?

So what flavour do you hate?
