What meal do you miss?

No I don’t mean skipping breakfast, I’m talking about the meal you can’t do without.
Yes burgers are good...
As I pondered writing this post there were so many meals I love but it’s the ones that when I don’t have them for a few days/weeks they become an itch I need to scratch that I wanted to pin down. I mean I often fancy a burger but I can’t say that when I do that is the only option that will suffice. . When I was travelling and living abroad some years ago I kept dreaming about one thing for dinner, sausage, mashed potatoes and cabbage with fried onions and brown sauce. Even at the time it seemed strange to me as I would never have said that this was my favourite dish, in fact not even close, yet something deep inside me craved this comfort food. Once I arrived in Australia after eating my way through a good swath of Asia, I tried to construct this simple meal to satisfy my S&M cravings ;) I took a while but I did it. The Aussie sausages where not quite right so I found an English butcher to make me some the UK way and I sourced a bottle of HP.  Once these key factors were in place I had my plate of food and it hit the spot. Strangely I never made that meal again until I returned back to Blighty, just having it that one time killed the craving. The Sunday roast is something that I really miss if I haven’t had one in a while. This is of course more apparent during the colder months when the thought of a ‘gravy dinner’ is just so appealing. Growing up we had a roast every Sunday so I’m kind of programmed to expect one.
It's what I crave!
What gets me these days is curry. The night before I go on holiday I have a curry, and I do again the night I get back. I can’t go more than a week without a curry and having become addicted to chilli spice I can honestly say I crave it more than any other cuisine. The thing that satisfies me is a hot spicy lamb curry with plain boiled rice. This simple combination just hits the spot, of course I’m happy to have a few other dishes on the side. What meal do you miss? Please share below what food you crave and can’t do without. Michael Robinson
